From Weds morning to Friday night, just minutes before midnight, the last of the 2401 slices was collected. Dr. Japoco Annese had stayed up slicing from Thurs morning till Friday night and, despite his sleeplessness, only 2 sections were damaged!!

Congratulations to Dr. Japoco Annese and the UCSD Brain Observatory for a job well done!!

So what next? Over the course of the following months, Dr. Annese and his team will take on the tedious task of flattening and straightening these sections onto glass slides, staining them, and then digitizing them at a resolution so high, each slice of brain will take 1 TB of disk space. Amazing!! Thank you for all your hard work!!
